Release Date: 18th June

Contemporary and ambient, ‘Draw Closer’ is the latest EP from producer and multi-instrumentalist Dan Devoted. Fusing together electronic soundscapes with the melancholic rawness of the piano, Dan Devoted’s collection of mostly instrumental tracks are an illustration of his musical vision. ‘Draw Closer’ will be available everywhere on the 18th of June 2021.

An unlikely combination, Dan blends together his experience in music and neuroscience as an outpouring for his work. The opening track ‘Onwards’ welcomes the listener with its hypnotic piano pedal notes and textured sounds, accompanied by gentle drum beats that drive the pace. Despite its lack of lyrics, this piece is a testament to its title. Letting the song speak for itself, ‘Onwards’ feels positive, pushing forward and looking ahead. ‘Never Let Me Down’ features angelic female vocals from singer-songwriter Metruth, supported by uplifting production, while ‘Your Heart Will Mend’ is guided by a piano lead, a cinematic track that crescendos with electronic flourishes and building synths. ‘Rest’ closes the EP, ascending with an arpeggiated synth line and swells of dynamic percussion.

As a multi-instrumentalist Dan Devoted searches for inspiration through new and interesting sounds and instruments. Growing up in an Anglican Church, his first taste of music developed through hymns and psalms, before learning the saxophone, crafting his skills in improvisation. The likes of Bombay Bicycle Club and Two Door Cinema Club would soon inspire his need to teach himself guitar, bass and drums, but it’s the piano for ‘Draw Closer’ that has brought the most comfort. Receiving radio play for his production skills with other artists, Dan’s work has featured on BBC Radio 2, BBC Introducing and BRUM Radio A List, with his production style, being compared to Kanye West’s ‘Blood On The Leaves.’ A sanctuary for both Dan Devoted and his fans, the ‘Draw Closer’ EP is a much-needed melancholic collection of peace and tranquillity.
